I have found that it sounds very different when a pair of noise-canceling headphones is used. While the environmental noise is filtered to provide a more quiet listening condition, the lower frequency range of the audio source is enhanced or left more solid, thus making the BrainZapr signal appear more audible since the BrainZapr's low frequencies are no longer interfered by the room's ambient noise. I have no idea if using the noise-canceling headphones is a wise or better way to listen to BrainZapr but certainly it sounds better this way than when a conventional pair of headphones is used.

Hey Carman,

thanks for the feedback. What type of noise cancelling headphones are you using?

Do you find that the binaural beats are still present? i.e. can you hear the third tone clearly?

If so then this is something I need to check out.

Thanks again, £2.99 reward sent to your email address.

Hi, Edliversidge, yes, I could hear the biaural sounds clearly especially when I listened to the MP3 of that "15 minute meditation water and cymbals".

However, when I tried the noise-canceling headhones on other built-in aural sounds, the results were not all positive. In particular, when "Intense Focus (30m) was played, only the first one or two minutes sounded signicantly better with noise-canceling on, but it then gradually sounded worse with noise-cancelling on for the rest, or at least the next few minutes of the recording especially when the frequency went up to over 20Hz . Since my noise-canceling headphones has a switch for the noise-canceling function, I could easily do an A-B comparison test. I found that the noise-canceling "improved" some passages of low frequencies but not all frequencies could "benefit". In some cases such as when "Intense Focus (30m)" played a consistent 22Hz biaural tone, I would rather turn the noise-cancelling function off.

For your info, my pair of noise-canceling headphones is the Sony MDR-NC40.

I too use Sony headphones (MDR-NC6). However, the only time I turn on the noise canceling feature is when I'm in the airport or on a plane.
