Hi Ed:
New here. Not new to brainwave entrainment. Just downloaded the brainZapr beta. Two questions:
1. Not clear to me which of the presets are isochronic (which is what I'm interested in). How do I tell?
2. How to use this to create my own isochronic presets. Should I just study the sourcefiles of the existing ones to figure this out?
I really appreciate the gentle mixes you have created (in contrast with the beeping, irritating noises created by some other brainwave software).
Thanks for your work and thanks in advance for your response.
Best,
kwc

What I'm now seeing, as I look at the XML files of the presets is that the only difference between an isochronic and binaural file seems to be in the "signal segment" coding.
Isochronic is set to:
- <ch id="1">
- <btype type="0">
Binaural is set to:
- <ch id="1">
- <btype type="binaural">
Is that right?
Does that mean I can take ANY of the bb ones, and simply change that segment setting code and save it and it will then play as isochronic?
Thanks,
kwc

Hello kwc,
thanks for your post, really appreciate the questions and the feedback.
You nearly got it, for isochronics you need
<btype type="1">,
for binaural it is
<btype type="0"> or <btype type="binaural">
You can only have one isochronic channel, and it is best to make it the first channel.
This is a perfect example of one isochronic channel and one binaural channel:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<preset>
<length length="60"/>
<description description="test"/>
<signalsegment>
<ch id="0">
<btype type="1">
<sgseg fstart="400" fend="400" binfstart="18" binfend="1" length="30" volstart="0.99" volend="0.99"/>
<sgseg fstart="400" fend="400" binfstart="1" binfend="18" length="30" volstart="0.99" volend="0.99"/>
</btype>
</ch>
<ch id="1">
<btype type="0">
<sgseg fstart="200" fend="200" binfstart="18" binfend="1" length="30" volstart="0.99" volend="0.99"/>
<sgseg fstart="200" fend="200" binfstart="1" binfend="18" length="30" volstart="0.99" volend="0.99"/>
</btype>
</ch>
</signalsegment>
</preset>
I will put together a simple tutorial as soon as I can. Let me know how you get on with your presets.
Ed

Very good. I'll be playing with this later. Just one clarification: If I make those changes on the existing presets and save them under new names, will they then play as isochronics?
Thanks,
kwc

yes, so long as you only have one isochronic channel. You could even mix iso and bb, but I am not sure how effective that would be.
have fun,
Ed

I've edited each of the presets so that it is an ISO and saved it as an xml in the presets folder and am listening to them. Hard to say if I've pulled it off, but I'm surprised at how tranced out I got with the earthresonance ISO playing in the background while I worked on the others.
